Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. This was the moment that she received recognition. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music online in 2012 when she released five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the web, including her own launched single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, from Sweat It Out, on the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's references. In the following season, the music circulated around Dreamville. It was announced on December 8 that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she recorded alongside Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. On October 21 2016 she dropped her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening performance. In 2018 she went on to be a guest on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream came out September 5, 2018 with the music video. In November, she released her singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on 11/13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single in February, 2019 for her debut album the same name. In February of 2019, a music video was released for the song. It has already received over 3 million hits on YouTube within its initial week. In December 2018 the singer was a part of The From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
